Jess had a track meet last night and the kids have had fevers and cough all week so we decided to watch a movie and make popcorn before bed. My friend made popcorn for us last week this way so we decided to try it ourselves! Yummy! The movie was called Seven Alone and was made in the '70's. It is based on a true story written about a pioneer family. The parents died early on and the seven children have to make it on their own. Very interesting. We only watched half so far but will watch the rest tonight probably.
Since the kids have felt crummy, I haven't made them do school work. However, their new books came in today and they were so excited that they did some today. I decided to let them switch grades now because they are both ready. I spent a lot of time looking into it and they have met the requirements so it seemed silly to have them do busy work when they were ready for the level of work that the new books were offering. So . . . Samuel is in 2nd grade, Philip is in Kindergarten and Sophia is in pre-school!
They had a good time setting up their own boxes of school work.
Sophia felt left out so I got her a box and we eventually gathered some of the pre-school stuff we had into it. She was so excited that mighty mind (a pattern blocks set) was being passed down to her.
Here are their bins.
Another episode of seeing the world through our magnificent Philip's eyes: I asked him to stack the boxes by the closet door. I had them stacked neatly earlier, in an easy manner. Philip, however, sought out the hardest way to do the job. It would not have occurred to anyone else in the family to do this--what fun we have with Philip in our lives! They loved knocking it down each time.
